little differences

so i've noticed lately that this baby likes to hang out on the right side of my body - way more than it prefers the left... this has the funny effect of making my belly slightly lopsided (though thankfully not too bad), and which unfortunately means my right leg tends to get a bit crampy when we go on walks, in ways that the left leg doesn't. that sucks.

i try to push it over to the left side from time to time but i'm a little scared to push too hard... surely it must be chillin' there for a reason. maybe my organs are lopsided and haven't left it much room on the left? who knows.

i've also noticed that i'm losing my belly button. it has rendered itself 2-dimensional.

did you know pregnant women get a dark line that runs vertically up their bellies - right up to and often above the belly button? yeah, neither did i until i started reading the books. but sure enough -- right around 20 weeks i started to notice it. subtle, but it's there -- and it's extended a good 2-3 inches higher than my belly button. i keep wondering if and when it's going to stop creeping! strange.

i've also found that putting on shoes (and tying them) is becoming increasingly difficult. i will not give in to having my husband do it for me (yet). i need some ounce of independence in this mess! thank goodness that my staple shoe habits make this little inconvenience somewhat inconsequential.

i knew that wearing only flip flops and stilettos would pay off for me one day!

btw, whoever wrote the baby books that say you should avoid wearing high heels while pregnant... well, here's what i have to say to you: suck it. not only do my heels help me feel semi-normal (ahh the leg-slimming magic!), but they are way WAY easier to don than my sneakers.

hmmm. one more point that i don't agree with from the books. i should start a list!
