growing up
my older sisters turned 30 today! woot!
happy birthday, ladies!
you see, i decided on january 1, 2005, that i would harass them to no end about turning the big three-oh this year. but once i started the fogey comments -- the cracks about old age and osteoperosis and menopause -- well, somehow i lost my excitement at being mean. particularly once i saw how sensitive to age they'd really become...
why is it that we're all so scared to grow older?
i'm kinda excited at the idea of growing laugh lines and leathery skin. there are many 40+ women in the world who are so much more super badass than i am right now, and i admire that.
and, i think i have a decent chance at catching up with them someday, if i keep at it. that's because, according to the trends of my life, my chances of being a badass middle aged lady are much better than they were for being a badass twenty-something woman. and i know that because i'm actually closer to being a badass twenty-something than i ever was to the attainment of badass-ness as a co-ed. and as a co-ed, i was closer still than i ever was as to being one as a teen... as a teen, closer than i was as a preteen... and a kid... and you see my point.
so yeah. if i keep it up, my over-the-hill days should be the best ones yet!
and, well, i can't wait!
someday, my kids are gonna be talking smack in the schoolyard about their super cool mom who is up to something super cool that weekend... and that's gonna rule.
